This post is a quick guide to Living With The Land, but we have related content that dives deeper into topics. Our Epcot Genie+ and Lightning Lane post covers Lightning Lane strategy in deep. The Epcot Rides and Entertainment Guide gives brief introductions to all the park’s offerings. For putting together your day at the park, we have a One Day Plan for Epcot.
Living With The Land Basics
Living With The Land is an educational slow moving boat ride at Disney’s EPCOT in Walt Disney World. Living With The Land:
does not offer rider switch
has a Lightning Lane that is a part of Genie+
does not have a single rider line
is about 15 minutes long
Measured by wait times, Living With the Land is the one of the least popular rides in Epcot. You should expect an average wait of about 0 to 20 minutes, but this will vary greatly by time of day and day of year.
Where is Living With The Land in Epcot?
Living With The Land is located in the World Nature land, in The Land pavilion at EPCOT in Disney World. Entering the park from the main entrance, World Nature is to the right. There are three pavilions on that side, the center one is The Land. Entering The Land, you’ll need to go down the stairs / escalators (or take an elevator) to the lower level, where you’ll find entrances for Soarin’ and Living With The Land.
How to ride Living With The Land
Living With The Land isn’t a particularly popular ride, but on busy days it can get a long (30+ minute) wait, particularly because guests visiting Soarin’ will also make the stop here.
Generally, if you can visit Soarin’ in the morning and Living With The Land shortly thereafter, you’ll be in the best shape. Any plan that avoids having to make multiple trips to The Land pavilion is good, though.
If you have Genie+, this will be a low priority Lightning Lane pick, though it also can make sense to pick it if you can time to ride it around the same time your ride Soarin’.
If you’re visiting Epcot with small children, this will be one of your options for the family to enjoy together. While it is a longer ride, our toddler has always seemed to stay entertained throughout. This ride has no scary components.
Living With The Land Ride Experience
Living With The Land is a 15-minute boat ride with narration educating guests on ecology, land use, and farming practices. The ride begins with some nature scenes featuring a few animatronics and talking through difference aspects of ecology.
Midway, the ride enters the the greenhouse, and the remainder of the ride is focused on the development of new agricultural practices, including by scientists at The Land. You’ll see a wide range of plants, including many that are used by restaurants at Walt Disney World Resort.
I can’t deny that the premise of Living With The Land sounds a bit “boring” if you’re here for traditional amusement park rides. But the ride is one of our favorites. It’s leisurely, scenic, and educational.
While the first few scenes may fall short of what you expect from a dark ride, the greenhouse is a very cool experience, and many young kids enjoy seeing how some of their favorite foods are grown.
Altogether, I’ll say that despite our love for it, the ride probably isn’t a must-do unless every ride at EPCOT is a must-do. On most days—any except the busiest ten of the year, probably, you’ll have time to fit it in before or after Soarin’, and we recommend doing so.
