Basics of Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe
Pecos Bill’s is a counter service restaurant at Magic Kingdom specializing in southwest / Tex-Mex food. Guests on a Walt Disney World Dining Plan will spend one quick service credit for an entree and a drink from the restaurant.
Pecos Bill’s is typically open from around 10:30AM until an hour before park close. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner and has an identical menu for both. Pecos Bill’s does not take Disney World Advance Dining Reservations (ADRs).
Pecos Bill’s is located at the far end of Frontierland, just past Country Bear Musical Jamboree but before you get to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

Go-To Item — Create Your Own Nacho Bowl
Go-To Dessert — Mini churros
Pro-Tip — Enjoy the toppings bar!
Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe Menu
Pecos Bill’s main focus is Tex-Mex food. It offers a “create your own” category, with a tamale, nacho bowl, caesar salad, and rice bowl. You can add chicken, pork, or beef to these. There’s also a burger available. While this was an upgrade from the previous menu, it came at the cost of permanently losing the toppings bar, which now has basic items like ketchup and mayo.
Seating at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe
Most of the seating at Pecos Bill’s is inside, with a few tables being outside. Pecos Bill’s, along with the adjacent Tortuga Tavern has a seating capacity of 1107. I don’t know if this is actually the most seating in Magic Kingdom, but it definitely feels like it.
Our favorite room is “the dark room”—a large room in the back of the restaurant that seems designed to mimic nighttime outside a southwestern or possibly Mexican lodging (if you can explain the actual cultural inspiration for this room, please do).
While we’ve seen Pecos Bill’s short on seats, we’ve never had trouble finding a seat with it as our go-to restaurant for all manner of holidays and visits to the park.
With its location near the back Frontierland and Adventureland, it doesn’t see a huge amount of passerby traffic (relative to say, Casey’s, that is), which helps to prevent overcrowding. As it’s along the parade route, you can expect increased crowds around parade time. You can watch the parade from outdoor seating, too.
Theming
Pecos Bill’s isn’t quite as intricately themed as Casey’s or Columbia Harbour House, but there’s a decent amount of “story” here. Besides the architecture of the building, there’s a story throughout that Pecos Bill’s friends have sent him decorations for his inn and cafe.
It isn’t excessive, but you’ll see displays throughout the restaurant that capture the spirit of some of the Wild West’s legends, like this display for Annie Oakley:
Is this enough to make you rush to the restaurant? Probably not…but I could see some Wild West geeks getting a kick out of it.
Conclusions
There are three reasons to come to Pecos Bill’s—Tex-Mex food, ample indoor seating, and parade views. Those are three simple, but pretty compelling reasons, I guess.
We’ve always been big fans of Pecos Bill’s because we’ve never had a problem placing a quick order and finding seating. I don’t think there’s any single, standout item (like the hot dog of the month at Casey’s or the lobster roll at Harbour House), but Pecos Bill’s is a very solid what-you-see-is-what-you-get option.
